Cycling Saddles

Here’s a curious little video ad for Selle Italia saddles. I’m not quite sure what the point of a 166 diamond encrusted, 18K solid gold cycling saddle valued at 50,000 Euros is, but as the video states: Style Has Different Ways.

Brooks cycling saddles have been around for over a century and they’re still manufactured and hand assembled today just as they were 40 or 50 years ago. Leather and metal have rarely been combined in such a beautiful and functional fashion. Here is a great video (broken into two parts) detailing the history, origins and manufacturing process of the iconic Brooks company and their distinctive cycling saddles.
